My forever stunning, hilarious, strong-willed, talented mother, I know it’s a day later, but Happy Mother’s Day. I am who I am largely because of you (looking at these pictures, I realized I’m your carbon copy - no wonder we’re often mistaken for sisters!), and I thank you for this and so much more. You’re my best friend and #1 role model, beloved by so many for good reason. Continue being fabulous, because it’s working. I love you. #1 #MothersDay #love #iloveyou #thankyou #family #motherdaughter #beauty #igetitfrommymomma #throwback

Hue was a monthly celebrity and gossip magazine published in the mid-to-late 1950s by Johnson Publishing, the publishers of Jet and Ebony. It was digest-sized like Jet, but unlike that magazine Hue featured full-color covers. The covers tended to be a mix of celebrities and models, generally all women, with the exception of the occasional male star like Nat King Cole.
See a huge collection of Hue covers at 16 Stone Vintage.
Many of these scans come from the amazing Black History Viewed Through Magazines Flickr page. They have scanned thousands of covers and inside pages from African American publications of the 1950s and early 60s.
Obsessed.
